Meet Dr. Dembny...

I was born in Fort Atkinson and spent most of my childhood and teenage years in Delavan, Wisconsin. From a young age I enjoyed drawing and crafting, and then later building and painting model airplanes. I swam competitively through high school, and also liked bicycling. During my junior year of high school, I lived a wonderful and educational year in Santos, Brasil as an American Field Service (AFS) foreign exchange student. I decided to attend medical school when it seemed like I needed something more than biochemistry. Although I always enjoyed baking as a kid, my real interest in cooking didn’t develop until I was in medical school. I met my wife while I was a surgical resident at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Holly and I were married in 1998 in her home town, Guttenberg, Iowa. One month later we moved to Columbus, Ohio for my plastic surgery residency. We enjoyed Columbus, but moved back to Wisconsin because of this wonderful job opportunity, and to be closer to our families.

In October 1999, Holly gave birth to our first daughter. Klaire is an independent girl with a friendly personality. She loves swimming, playing with friends, crafting, wearing flip-flops, and visiting grandma and grandpa's farm in Iowa. In August 2002, we were blessed with our son, Kenneth D. Dembny III. Dell is "all boy" and loves his bat and ball, big diggers and trucks, looking for worms and bugs, and riding his bicycle. In May 2004 our family celebrated the addition of our second daughter, Kamryn. She is a gentle, loving, and happy girl who loves her mother, any candy she can find, princesses and Barbie dolls, and enjoys learning from her brother and sister. I am lucky to share my life with my loving wife and children.

I enjoy everything from pizza and ice cream, to a big bite of a fresh picked tomato, to succulent BBQ ribs and pulled pork sandwiches, to a wine with so much fruit you can chew it or the complexity of a Sonoma Coast pinot noir, to morel mushrooms, to whatever is on the menu at my next dinner party.

I have had other great meals at Emeril's (New Orleans), Jean-Georges (New York City), Zafferano (London), and The Lygon Arms (Broadway, UK).
